    Gretchen Bassett, DVM

    The owner of Arvada Flats Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Gretchen Bassett, grew up within a few miles of the clinic and attended Jefferson County Schools throughout her childhood. Gretchen did her under graduate work at the University of Colorado, Boulder and her Veterinary studies at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins.

    Kelly Best, DVM

    Kelly Best, DVM - Dr. Kelly Best earned her undergraduate, and then veterinary degree, from Michigan State University in 1997. She moved to Colorado in 1999 and has been residing here since that time. She enjoys the variety that comes with general practice, as well as building relationships with clients and their pets.

    Sabrina Stone, DVM

    Sabrina Stone, DVM - Dr. Sabrina Stone grew up in Antioch, IL. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for her undergraduate years. She then took a couple years off to work at a veterinary clinic in Madison before attending veterinary school at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Sabrina continued to cheer for the Badgers during her veterinary school years, and still does.

    Valerie Bender, DVM

    Valerie Bender, DVM - Dr. Valerie Bender is from Geneva, Illinois, a suburb outside of the windy city of Chicago. At a young age, Valerie developed a passion for veterinary medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University, a small school in southern Kentucky, followed by her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2018.

    Megan Emerick,
    DVM

    Dr. Megan Emerick, DVM - Dr. Megan Emerick attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins for both her undergraduate & veterinary degrees. She practiced in the Phoenix area for 8 years after graduation, but is excited to be back on the front range now. She loves the variety of general practice - from talking to excited first time puppy owners about preventive care, house-breaking & socialization to helping senior pets stay comfortable & pain free.

    Tamera Kramer,
    DVM

    Dr. Tamera Kramer earned her undergraduate degree in equine science and then graduated from CSU’s Veterinary School of Medicine in May of 2021. She is a Colorado native and pet mom to “Piper”, a Russian blue cat, and “Mochi”, a black lab. Tamera is passionate about preventative healthcare, responsible breeding strategies, and small animal surgical care. She enjoys fishing, keeping up on the latest movie releases, and spending time with her family and pets. Many clients may recognize Dr. Kramer as she worked at Arvada Flats Veterinary Hospital throughout her schooling. Tamera wanted to mention that her family has trusted Arvada Flats with their pets’ care since she was a child.

  • Jessica Rojas
    Practice Manager

    One of the great capabilities of the four experienced doctors you’ll encounter at Arvada Flats, is their ability to work with their clients and patients with an excellent bed-side manner.

    We offer giving our clients options for the care of their loved pets, and work to consult with and find specialists to assist you when and if it’s needed.

  • Marcy Granner
    OSHA/Facilities, Technician

    Marcy has been with the Arvada Flats team since 2008. She studied at Bel-Rae and has been helping pets since 2001. She loves all animals, but is most fond of cats and horses. She loves to be outdoors and traveling to new exciting places. Marcy loves the personal care and passion that Arvada Flats has towards pets and clients.

  • Amber Johnson
    Medical Inventory, Technician

    Amber graduated from Bel-Rea in March of 2012. She took and passed her VTNE exam in July of 2012. She has been working in this field for 7 years, and has spent all 7 of those years here at Arvada Flats. Her interests in this field are surgery and building relationships with clients and their pets. Amber shares her life with her husband Nate and her daughter Paisley. She enjoys spending time with her family and reading in her spare time.


Our Veterinary Technician Team

You'll find an efficient, highly competent and friendly technician team at Arvada Flats. Most of these technicians have worked at Arvada Flats for a good portion of their career and have become truly an extension of the doctors at this hospital. They seek out regular continuing education and work to provide ease of conversation for owners as well as state-of-the-art anesthesia monitoring, patient care, radiology procedures, and laboratory work. They are a loving, compassionate group and both clients and their pets feel comfort in their care.

  • Cristy Sims
    Technician

    Christy was born and raised in Tucson, AZ where she grew up participating with her animals in 4-H and showing horses. In 2014 she moved to California to attend California State Polytechnic University where she earned her bachelors degree in Animal Health Science. Upon graduation she became a certified veterinary technician (CVT) and started graduate school at the University of Arizona. In the spring of 2020 she graduated from U of A with her masters in Agricultural Education and made the move to Colorado with her fiancé! Christy doesn't share her home with any furry friends but is looking forward to that changing soon! In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and exploring Colorado!

  • April Henley
    Technician

    April has been in the veterinary field since 2005 and has been with Arvada Flats Veterinary Hospital since 2017. April enjoys assisting both patients and clients and is particularly interested in surgical procedures.  April finds joy in making people's days brighter, as well as a deep passion for both Harry Potter and Batman.  In her spare time, April enjoys reading, watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with her family.

  • Kristina Vanourek
    Technician

    Kristina is a native to Sweden that moved to the US in 1999, graduated from Bel-Rea in 2005, and became a CVT that same year. She moved her family (husband, two daughters, and two cats) back to Sweden in 2009, where she continued to work as a CVT until 2019, when the family moved back to Colorado. She joined the Arvada Flats family in Aug. 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, their three cats, and their hunting Labrador, Morrison. When she and Morrison are not doing retriever training, you will find them climbing up a mountain somewhere in this beautiful state of Colorado!

  • Sam Gadliardi

    Sam was born and raised on the east coast. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Animal Science. She’s practiced as a veterinary nurse for several years and has a background in wildlife rehabilitation and zoology. A longing for the mountains called her to Colorado. After moving west, she found a home at Arvada Flats Veterinary Hospital. Sam loves to handle all animals, but specializes in stress-free geriatric cat restraint. When she’s not handling your pets with compassionate care, you can find Sam hiking, painting, or cuddling her own animals: two cats, Pie and Zen, her dog, Orecchiette, and 5-foot boa, Little Basilisk.

  • Beth Svitech

    Beth moved to Colorado from Wisconsin in 2014. She graduated from veterinary technician school in 200 and obtained her certification. Beth enjoys working with surgeries, anesthesia, and critical care for our patients at Arvada Flats. She has a busy home with 3 boys, 2 dogs and a ferret. Away from the hospital, she also enjoys going on road trips to places she has never been and live music.

  • Kayden Najera

    Kayden was born and raised in El Paso TX and moved to Colorado 15 years ago She has earned an associates degree in veterinary medicine and a bachelor’s in biology with a minor in criminal justice and a has been a licensed technician for 10 years. Kayden loves pocket pets and exotics. She lives with her daughters, and also a dog and a cat named “Barbara Walters.

    Front Desk

    My name is Jenna. I am originally from Missouri and I moved here in January of 2019. I love working with animals and being a part of a team who is as passionate about animals as I am! I have a bearded dragon named Baby at home and a cat named Khaleesi. She is super sweet and loves to cuddle!

  • Joanne Hansen
    Front Desk

    Joanne started working at Arvada Flats Veterinary 31 years ago with the original doctor who started up the clinic, Dr. Kinsey. She has 5 daughters and 11 grandchildren, family is everything to Joanne. In her free time she loves to travel and go golfing. Joanne loves interacting with all the pets and clients that come through the doors at Arvada Flats.
